1) Fibroids or myomas are benign (non-cancerous growths or tumours of the uterus.

3) Do fibroids cause any symptoms or problems?

4) Is it ok to leave fibroids alone if they are not causing any problem? Can they change to cancerous growths later on?
If a woman has fibroids and has no symptoms, or if they are not growing rapidly we can often leave them alone. Uterine fibroids rarely develop into cancer However it will be safer to keep a watch on them by doing an ultrasound as advised by your Gynaec.
5) Can a woman conceive with fibroids?
Many women have conceived with fibroids naturally without availing any fertility treatments and have had a successful pregnancy and delivered.
The effect of fibroids on fertility depends on the size and location of the fibroids. Some fibroids may block the tubes and cause infertility. Some may occupy space within the uterine cavity and prevent implantation and cause abortions.
Some fibroids may cause distortion of the uterine cavity and hormonal disturbances.
Even if a woman conceives with fibroids sometimes these fibroids may cause complications during pregnancy and delivery.
6) What happens to the size of fibroids during pregnancy?
Pregnancy causes growth in the size of fibroids due to increased blood supply and increased production of hormones.
